Scheduled for completion in 2021 and stretching for almost 2km, the Bernex tramway offers a new way of planting the exclusive right-of-way. A minimum of topsoil has been used, mixed with locally produced concrete gravel, to establish a ruderal flora whose natural dynamics will be catalyzed by the lean nature of this ecological substrate. The extensive surfaces are not watered, favoring the flowering plants of dry meadows. The planting project is exceptional, with more than 560 trees planted with diversified species adapted to global warming. In all, almost 3.5 ha of biodiversity have been created from scratch in this project monitored by Ecotec !
